Orion Energy Centre’s team comprises a group of highly experienced engineers and associate consultants specialising in the energy sector, with particular emphasis on renewable energy projects.
Having worked closely with the renewables industry for many years, We have worked with a number of clients, including SME entrepreneurial companies and large multi-nationals.
Dr Ken Tease is the Renewables Manager for Orion Energy Centre and heads up the new and exciting development of renewable engineering services for the Orion Group. Ken graduated from Queen’s University of Belfast with a BEng (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering and was awarded a PhD in Aerodynamics from the same institute.
Wave Energy is Ken’s main area of expertise. He has been working in the sector for more than 20 years’ and has gained considerable practical Marine, Aeronautical, Acoustic, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering experience; while working in the Marine Renewable Energy Sector on key wave developments at the forefront of the industry. Over the years he has been involved in research and project development with both small entrepreneurial companies like ‘RME Ltd.’ and ‘Applied Research & Technology Ltd.’ as well as large multi-nationals such as ‘Voith Hydro Ltd.
Ben Yeats is a Chartered Engineer with over 25 year experience in marine renewables. Ben’s maritime background includes technology development, initiation and management of Joint Industry Projects (JIPS), offshore operations, project development and associated business development
Ben is also project leader for the Scottish Government funded MRCF (Marine Renewables Commercialisation Fund) Joint Industry Project. Administered by the Carbon Trust, this project has been set up to advance the development of novel mooring systems for the marine renewables industries. The Orion Energy Centre is one of the principal partners contributing to this project.
With over 14 years’ Engineering experience and a PhD in Non-linear wave generation, Johannes has an excellent breadth of expertise within the industry.
He has played a leading role in developing Marine Renewable Energy research at Imperial College London and continues his engagement with an Edinburgh based design company as an academic advisor, particularly in the development of 3D wave basins.
Johannes works together with OEC as a technical consultant to various client projects and research activites.
A dedicated and experienced Environment, Health and Safety specialist with over 15 years’ experience in the industry.
Eddie is responsible for all aspects of HSE management specific to Renewable Energy technology providers and is well equipped to advise clients on design and development through to installation, commissioning and maintenance of new offshore and near-shore power generation devices.
